Published in 1945 this is the 26th in the long-running Robert Macdonald series, which ran to 46 books in all, from 1931 to 1959.

Set during the blitz, this mystery involves a murder in Regents Park (which I know well). Another really good read from this author. At first the murder seems almost implausible. In the dark a man positioning himself under a bridge and then climbing out only to find, that the man he was due to see has been murdered already, and the murderer is no where to be found. Another excellent offering by Lorac. This one is set in London during the Blitz, and the evocation of the blackouts and bombings adds atmosphere to the strange tale of a man murdered on a bridge just as he lights a match, and a witness sees a strange face in the match light behind him. A great cast of theatre folk and an identity puzzle about the victim all add to the clever plotting. Very enjoyable Golden Age mystery.

Another novel written and set in WW2 - seem to have read several recently. Enjoyed this: good plot and interesting characters.
