Yet another Agatha Christie I had never read. This one is really hard to review, as I don’t want to give away any spoilers.

Written in 1967, this is one of Christie’s standalone mysteries, sans Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple, or really any detective. More of a psychological thriller, really; a rather restless young man comes under the spell of Gypsy’s Acre, a remote spot in the English countryside. Nanosynergy
A stand-alone book by Agatha Christie. A quite different type of book.

Lower class, somewhat drifter, Michael Rogers marries wealthy heiress Ellie Guteman. They build their dream home on land that is supposed to be cursed. Anything else I write would be a spoiler.

The title comes from William Blake's Auguries of Innocence:

"Every night and every morn,
Some to misery are born,
Every morn and every night,
Some are born to sweet delight.
Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night."

Shelves: mystery-cozy
This was a pretty good book, but not a fabulous one. A LOT of what seems to be introductory material and you only find out later it is part of the mystery. That was rather sneaky on Christie's part. Worthy of a read, this was one of her later books. I listened to the audiobook and Hugh Fraser does an excellent job. Very comfortable listen. ...more
