And due to circumstances beyond my control, and a forgetful memory, i have just realised i didn't write a review, time to remedy that situation.
Hmm, an enjoyable book with a great plot. I have a vague memory of seeing a tv adaptation in the last few years with the wonderful Bill Nighy as the patriarch, but to be honest that didn't spoil my read as i couldn't remember who "dunnit".

After watching a recent tv adaptation a few months ago with a bizarre ending I decided to read the book. WTF the tv adaptation was awful. After reading the book where there is a completely different murderer which made sense. Dr. Calgary also is completely different as a character and in my view better.
Mary and Philip work better in the book as do the other characters Mickey, Tina, Hester and the wicked Jacko. The best thing about the tv adaptation was the house and background location. In term ...more

4 STARS | Eager to settle in to watch the recent miniseries of this on Amazon Prime, I wanted to read the book first. In brief, Jack Argyle was tried and convicted of the brutal murder of his adoptive mother. He dies in prison from pneumonia. After several years pass, a missing witness returns from a Polar expedition to provide a solid alibi for the dead accused murderer. So the case is reopened with only the remaining family, including other adopted children, and staff as viable suspects.
