I hate to say this but I'm feeling quite disappointed with this book.
The premise really got me excited and intrigued but it might be the only thing I like about it. A mother/wife was murdered and one of her adopted sons, Jacko Argyle who eventually died while serving his sentence. Two years too late came Arthur Calgary and he provided and alibi for Jacko which proves that Jacko definitely didn't commit the murder. So, who did it?

A stand- alone mystery from Christie, involving the murder of wealthy mother of five adopted children. One of this woman's sons has been accused and found guilty of the murder, and has subsequently died in prison from pneumonia. The weakness of this son's defense, is that his alibi for the time of the murder has never had any proof to back it up. It could have been better. I have a feeling she rushed a bit. Also she played with these ideas of race, adoption and what a background can do to a person growing up but she didn't dare to develop much and the solution fell flat.

Interesting Agatha Christie's closed-circle mystery, but I guessed the culprit because of a big clue in the middle.
