This was a re-read! I remembered the basic premise, and as soon as the murderer appeared, that they were the murderer, but I couldn't remember why, so I still got a lot of enjoyment out of watching the story unfold. I remember appreciating this for the fact that the victim was not a member of the middle-class, but a charwoman--there is a lot of classism in detective fiction of the era, and although this ended up as a middle-class crime, I liked Poirot's sympathy for the victim.

Perhaps I've not appreciated much the book because it's the first book that I've read in English. This made more difficult comprehension and slower my reading speed. In my mind this is not one of the best of Poirot cases. Although it isn't awful, it's not memorable.
