Utterly diabolical. I find this one of Christie’s best stories, and Hugh Fraser’s narration is the icing on the cake. It seems that all of those years working with David Suchet gave him the ability to do Poirot perfectly. Highly recommended.
Hercule Poirot receives a taunting anonymous letter telling him there will be a murder in Andover on a certain date and signed 'A B C'. When a woman is found dead in her tobacconists/newsagents shop with a copy of the ABC train timetable open at the page for Andover it seems the letter wasn't a hoax.

This was a very different book to the others. In this it is a serial killer , who tells Poirot when and where the crime will be committed. It really is captivating, as the reader is waiting for the next letter advising Poirot about the next murder. Also there are a few chapters , supposedly from the murderers point of view. We also get a lot of discussions about the mental health of killers A truly different read from what we are used to from Christie.
One of my favourite Poirot books. I listened to the audio this time, narrated by Hugh Fraser and he is superb! Obviously his Hastings is good but I loved his Poirot too. Highly entertaining.
