My musings to follow later, but a great detective story.

At Christmas 2018 I watched the latest televised version of this wonderful story starring John Malkovich as Hercule Poirot. Now in my opinion if I hadn't known it was meant to be Poirot I wouldn't have guessed. It was a good and enjoyable tv detective story but in my view it was way too dark and brooding to be a Poirot. Excellent classic Christie. I always love reading this one as it's very Torbay-centric (Agatha Christie's and my home town). The premise is brilliant with a series of murders being completed in alphabetical order. I really enjoy that the murders are so orderly when Poirot himself is the king of having everything in order. It's Agatha Christie book. what else you need.

it's my favourite detective Poirot goes on a round.

I don't know whether I was so used to this detective stories or what, I can guess the most of the things well before...

but it is beautifully written all over, till the last page you will be expecting Poirot to clarify you.
