4.5★ - & it possibly would have been higher if I had read the first book, Slow Horses. Possibly. There are a couple of loose threads towards the end of the book that bothered me a bit.

Another very realistic book from this author. Here two new characters are introduced (due to their mistakes they have made working for the intelligence department). Also there are two story lines which eventually join together. All this led by Jackson Lamb the chief of Slough House. We also get a glimpse of Lamb's earlier life when he played more active role in the Cold War. The ending is full of action,making it a real page turner.

Dead Lions by Mick Herron is the 2nd in the Slough House series. This is not a series I would usually have picked up as I am not a big reader of spy fiction, other that some le Carre, years ago. The premise is that Slough House is the last stop for “defective” spies, some have committed very public blunders others have committed more hidden offenses.
