Been a while since I have read this. There were a number of parts I didn't remember. And the movies are so different from the story.
It is stressed here how frail Miss Marple has become and that she needs someone to live with her. And someone else to come in and clean. Miss Knight (the live-in) is being provided by nephew Raymond and she is a real pest. Miss Marple creates errands for her to run, even knowing that things aren't ready yet. Well, I don’t think I actually read this one before - I remembered whodunnit from seeing the Elizabeth Taylor dramatization, but I had forgotten the details of the ending- as Miss Marple herself says, “simple, really”, but brilliant- and satisfying!

Another that was vaguely familiar, so I was able to figure it out. But really well done, interesting characters, good mystery, just enough confusion.

2024 Series Re-read: This is a memorable mystery with an air of nostalgia. The village has modernized but the types of people never change. Miss M. is feeling her age, but her sharp mind continues to fight for justice.
