Colonel and Mrs. Bantry wake up one morning to the news that there's a body in their library. It's a platinum blonde unknown to both of them, dressed in an evening dress, and she has been strangled. Afraid that if the culprit is not discovered soon, her husband will be the victim of a trial by rumour, Dolly Bantry's first response is to call Miss Marple, who's recently earned quite a reputation for her sleuthing.

The Body In The Library is the 3rd book featuring Miss Marple. It's a lighthearted mystery and a classic whodunnit in the classic Agatha Christie style.

It’s 7am, and the Bantry household wakes to find the body of a young girl they don’t know in their library. Shocked by this turn of events that seems so like a detective story, Mrs. Bantry calls in her close friend Miss Marple to help the police investigate and solve the mystery before gossip starts to harm her family’s standing in the village.

I added a star after my second or third read of this book probably because I have been away from Christie for a while and forgot how very good she is. The opening is superb. Miss Marple is in fine form and her ability actually appreciated.
