The sixth Lord Peter Wimsey book, and the first of four with Harriet Vane, here accused of murdering her ex-lover. Dorothy Sayers at her best, giving Wimsey growing wit and humanity. Apparently the key relationship reflected Sayers' past life, and this may be why the characters and relationships are so convincing. A really amusing, intriguing and convincing crime novel, well-plotted. ...more
