It would be nice when reading a new, favourite author if there was a steady arc of improvement, but I don't like this one quite as much as I liked Clouds of Witness. I still enjoyed it, but there were places where the story became quite bogged down and Sayers had characters voicing their disapproval of both blacks & Roman Catholics. My usual disclaimer; I still prefer to read uncensored.

Lord Peter Wimsey Group Read June 2022
An enjoyable read, and in my opinion probably the best in the series so far.
A chance meeting with a Doctor, gives Lord Peter the idea that an unrecognised murder could possibly have taken place. Speaking to his good friend Inspector Parker he tries to persuade him of his thoughts.
As he commences his investigation more and more issues come to light and he begins to build his case , but against who ? Mary Whittaker or Mrs Forrest, or was it one of the nurses o ...more

This is a very interesting book and it will keep you engaged in most parts, despite some of the stereotypes used. You might even early on work out this mystery.
Lord Peter Wimsey becomes interested in the death of a wealthy, elderly patient, when a concerned doctor makes a fuss about the circumstances of the lady's death.
