An amazing ending to a book series that has taken readers on a journey through generations. Graham did a phenomenal job mixing in mystery and suspense in this book - an element that we hadn't yet seen with this series. What a terrible disappointment. Other than the names of the characters, this book had almost nothing in common with the other 11 books of the saga. Ridiculous sub-plots. I doubt in the extreme that this book was written by Winston Graham, whatever his supposed age! Just awful!

So many loose ends are tied in this book, and Graham leaves the end as most of his other novels... wishing you could see more of the story. The "ends" that are tied are ones that are not obvious. I would say the way he ties the loose ends are more like the way actual life happens. It's not a pretty bow, just a few messy knots to hold it together. That's the way life tends to be. I am sad the series ended. I enjoyed this part more than the last few.

I would recommend this book. I would have liked more closure for some of the characters. It seems to me that Ross never appreciated his wife.
