My Thoughts:
It’s a book about “What if’s”. What if you could live the life that you always thought you should have had? What if you could change anything about the life you have that you don’t like? What if??? Dark Matter asks the reader to remember a time in their life where they made a decision that made them who they are now…the moment that defined them. If given that chance, would they make that same decision? If you knew the second chance offered you the wealth and prestige you let slip from your grasp, would you take it? But with those questions comes the biggest one, at least for me….what if the family you created and loved was not a part of that second chance? Would you regret your final decision?

It was a fast paced, exciting, sci-fi adventure with a lot of possible outcomes.

What a mind bender of a book. Once I started it I could not put it down. I became familiar with Blake Crouch through Wayward Pines and this new book is also SF. A man named Jason Dessen is living a comfortable life with his wife and son when one night after going out for drinks with an old friend he is suddenly and completely yanked out of it. A man is abruptly jerked out of his life and awakens in a parallel universe where he is not an ordinary family man, but a celebrated genius. So which is the better life? How do the choices we make define our identity? The journey back to try and recapture his own life makes for a gripping read.

Jason Dessen is a physics professor living with his wife and son in Chicago. Jason is happy but occasionally wonders what would have happened if he had stuck with his doctoral work and his wife had become an artist. Then one day Jason is attacked and he ends up in an alternate reality. There are a lot of twists and turns after this but I don't want to give the plot away. A gripping, fast read. I had read rave reviews about this book and people have been recommending it to me for so long but I didn't want the hype to keep me from enjoying this book and that is why I put it off for so long and now that I finally caught up to it, I am glad I waited.
Because it was now that I could fully enjoy this book.
