I'm biased on this one going in. I love the movie. The book is good too, but slightly different.
There are a lot of things that ring true in it - for better or worse - and show that the author had a real understanding of depression (unfortunately in this case). The narrative is a little ansty at times (but then so are most teenagers) and some parts I feel are a little glossed over.
