I love, love, FLOVED this book. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. The writers did a fantastic job of grabbing me from the first page. I was so wrapped up in the story and characters that I could not put the book down. I read it in one sitting and did not regret it for one second, even at 2AM.
This book will take you through all of the feels.... more than once. This book will be one of those that will stay with you for along time. Book hangover for sure!

I heard about this book before it came out and I knew I would have to read it as soon as it was released. I stopped anything else I was reading to devour this book. It's amazing!! I always love a good soldier and Devin didn't let me down at all.

Katie and Devin were best friends turned lovers growing up but then they had to go their separate ways. Katie has recently suffered a horrible ordeal and in the process of her recovery, is recommended to reach out to a soldier and the one she chooses is none other than Devin.

I loved the correspondence communication between Katie and Devin. Because of their history, they didn't have to start with basic formalities and dove right into true and honest territory between them. Katie has recently suffered a horrible ordeal and in the process of her recovery, is recommended to reach out to a soldier and the one she chooses is none other than Devin.

I loved the correspondence communication between Katie and Devin. Because of their history, they didn't have to start with basic formalities and dove right into true and honest territory between them. The story alternates POVs between Katie and Devin. Katie has a lot of anger, frustration and grief that she is dealing with. She's overworking herself, extremely stubborn and she's numbing herself from any vulnerable emotions. Devin never forgot about Katie and when they reconnect, he sees this as an opportunity to prove to her that he still cares about her.

Devin is overseas and gives a pretty good account of his life as a soldier. There's a lot of military descriptions (I had to look up some of the abbreviations or terms) and he has many fellow soldiers to keep track of in the book. I liked Devin a lot, he had a good heart and he was authentic in every way. He was also focused on his job and took his responsibilities very seriously.

Katie had relatable qualities, but I couldn't quite relate to her fully. Still, I admired her for trying to overcome her issues so that she could move forward with her life. She really put in the effort to manage her roadblocks and to not mislead other people. I liked that after so many years, they could fall into such easy conversation again and that they still felt a strong connection with one another. While she wasn't sure about trusting Devin with her heart, she was open to resuming a friendship. If Devin wanted more and because tomorrow is never guaranteed, would Katie let him back in?

I'm always in awe of the service and sacrifice provided by our military heroes, and Devin and his colleagues are no exception. If you like second chance romance with a military man and forgiveness being a big theme, then this book is for you.

This is a book I have been wanting to read since it was released and I am so glad I finally had the chance.
I loved the premise of high school friends/sweethearts reconnecting with each other when they both really needed it - especially in a semi random/ must have been fate fashion.
Both Katie and Devin are great characters that you can't help but like and root for. You want them to be successful in their individual struggles as well as a couple.

This story was truly amazing! It had me glued from the get go. Devin and Katie were both such real people. To see what they had to go through to find their way back together was amazing.
