I have loved Adriana's writing from the start, with every new release she only gets better and my admiration for her and her stories grow.Everytime I think "ok this is her best book!" That did not change with this book.
Ty and Elin are perfect for each other. And they are the perfect example of how life can get in the way of even the best relationship. I fell completely in love with these two. This book was so real, it sucked me in with the first chapter and I could not put it down. I read it in ...more

Some books blow you away because they are unique. Others because of the depth of the emotions explored. Written in the Scars blew me away for both of those reasons.
Most stories that fall into the romance category end as couples are still fairly early in their relationships. They may have been through a lot to get to "Happily Ever After," but that ending is really just the beginning of the next stage of the relationship. This was actually a reread for me, this time with the audio version. I first read this book in 2016 but wanted to experience it again through the narration by Emma and Lance.

This book was just as emotional as the first time I read it. This book hit a little bit different and deeper this go around, with the situation in my own life. While mine won't have the same happy ending, I still rooted like crazy for Ty and Elin to get their HEA. These characters felt so real. ...more

Where do I start? This book stole my heart. I don't cry with books often but I cried both sad and happy tears. I've loved every book I've read of this author but she really excelled at pulling emotions from me with this one.

Written in the Scars is one of those rare, emotional books that left me with more than a few tears. I’m not normally one to tear up at a book, but this book made my heart hurt. I felt so many emotions during this book: happiness, sadness, and love for everyone in this book. I really didn’t read much about what this book was about. I knew it was young love and that was good enough for me because I love that type of book.

Elin and Ty were perfect together. They are high school sweethearts who were so in love and believed in a happily ever after. I understand this completely since I married mine, too. They live in a small mining town, where everyone knows everyone. I really know about those types of towns myself. Everything is seemingly perfect until Ty is injured in the mine. His entire perspective changes, and he feels like he’s not enough of a man for Elin. Feeling he has no other choice, he walks out on Elin and leaves her struggling with so much on her own, and it was more than I anticipated. She had lost her parents and only has her brother, but no one can take the place of Ty. I do love her and her brother’s relationship. He wants to protect her and keep her safe and is a really good guy.

When Ty finally comes to his senses, he’s back in town and faces Elin’s rage. You can feel the anger rolling off her, and I was impressed that she didn’t just roll over and let him walk back into her life. He has to work for it, and he did. It’s always good seeing a man being brought to his knees to try to make his woman happy, and I loved that it wasn’t so easy for him.

"Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved."

As time passes and they are back together, I enjoyed seeing them learn to be a new couple all over again. They wanted to be better than what they were, and I appreciated they didn’t just fall back into the same routine, or rut. As the book progresses, you feel they are truly meant to be together more than ever, but when Ty goes back to the mine, because it’s the best paying job around, the tension spikes and tragedy strikes again. I didn’t see this coming at all, and I was devastated. My emotions were all over the place in this book, but that’s a good thing. When you can write a book that will pull at your heart in so many ways, that’s a good book! With this book, you don’t have a simple love story between two people. You actually see that love has its ups and downs. Family and friends mean the world to you and after reading this book, life is definitely not easy, especially when suffering such an awful tragedy, but I love how much it brought Elin and Ty back together and stronger than ever. So, grab a few tissues and be ready for a roller coaster of emotions in this 5 star book!
