4.4 I enjoyed the first two thirds more than the last. I am really happy I listened to the audio, which really brought the story to life. I was impressed by how far Stoker went with his overall spookiness, particularly as I tend to assume older books as much more tame and stale.

I finally read the classic that spawned sooo many vampire books I’ve loved. I decided to read along with Dracula Daily (a free substack that sends an email with the passages of Dracula organized chronologically by day, starting in May and ending November). I enjoyed most of it but other parts were really boring 🤷🏻♀️ I’m glad I read it and have a better grasp on the characters, but I’m not sure if I’ll be rereading it. More likely, I’ll just be displaying this very pretty copy on my bookshelves.
