Intriguing, creative and well-paced. Within the first handful of chapters, Howey throws his readers directly into the fray; I was immediately hooked and anxious to discover more about the characters' unique dystopian existence. I occasionally felt the drag of the book's length and it easily could have been trimmed to tighten up the story a bit. I love, love, love the concept of this series. And it was off to a fantastic start. But the writing was a little rough and could have used some editing. Some of the plot points fall short if you really think about them, but no bad enough I wasn't able to suspend disbelief. The insta-love drove me nuts, I understand it's an allusion to Romeo and Juliet, but I still found it grating.

I think the first section of this book was my favorite. I pretty much lost interest after that. Some of it felt repetitive although I don't think that could have been avoided without changing the plot.

Great dystopian sci-fi novel... But that being said I think I need to stay away from the genre 'cause as much as I like it it starts to all blend together and seem too similar. Again, this was very good but I kept thinking oh yeah this is like what happened in this movie or this book... (This isn't going to keep me from requesting the next set in the series).
