Reads like a love letter to humanity. No other post apocalyptic story has captivated me like this one. The deftly interwoven stories and flipping back and forth in time reminded me of Jennifer Egan's A Visit From the Goon Squad, which I also enjoyed. ...more

I am normally not a fan of dystopian tales, but this one just grabbed me and didn’t let go. Maybe because the setting switches from current times to a believable not too distant future, maybe because it is character driven and full of insights about our human condition, maybe because it focuses on the need for the arts even during the apocalypse (survival is insufficient) or maybe because it’s simply good storytelling... but I loved this book and want to talk about it.

I think I’ve read too many post-apocalyptic novels, but this was a pretty good example of the type. Some survivors are expectedly barbaric; others thankfully strive to retain their humanity. I felt the author tried to make deep symbolic points a few too many times that I’m afraid passed me by. Not all of the characters lived for me. I’m going to go out on a limb now and suggest that no matter how much survivors are starved for entertainment, I don’t think survivors of a megaplague would want to ...more

What a wonderful, beautiful, elegiac book. One of my best reads of the year.

Multiple POVs in different locations and times, constantly flitting back and forth with nothing happening in a single storyline. Stories kept being hinted at and then being cut off before anything ever happened. It was so frustrating and painful. The entire book felt like a neverending introduction. Such a letdown for an interesting premise.

I went into this book knowing nothing about it. It started a little slow, but then took a strong right turn into post-apocalyptic/dystopian territory. Fantastic! I was gripped by this book from that point until the end.

Station Eleven is different from the books I normally read, being lighter on plot and heavier on characterization and theme. I saw another reviewer who said it was "atmospheric," and that feels exactly right to me. As I read, I could picture everything happening and had a strong

This book took me a little bit of time to get into, but after a while I just couldn't put it down! By the end, I had mentally filed it under "favorites " in my head. It was unique and the world building was fantastic. The characters are all really interesting as well.

Definitely recommended!

This had me hooked from page one. Excellent story telling, vivid imagery, and sci-fi references? This book is right up my alley. I loved how the seemingly unrelated dialogues tied together at the end. Highly recommended!
