This was one of the most talked about books of 2014 (at least in my corner of the internet) and I'm glad that I finally got around to reading it. Thought this book was superbly written but conventional when it comes to the post apocalyptic genre. I wish it took more risks in the writing or the narrative and I'm surprised that it was a National Book Award finalist. I did love the Shakespeare woven into the narrative but, and I might be an idiot, I didn't find a lot of resonance of King Lear in the actual story so it seemed there just for flavor.
