Not sure why this book is deemed such a seminal work of sci-fi. I really wanted to like it, especially given the long term hype around it and recent resurgence in interest given “the metaverse” conversation these days, but I couldn’t. This book is basically the Big Bang Theory: shallow and thinks it is smarter than it is.

The initial world-building is interesting, though odd. Pizza delivery and murders and the mafia are basically all the economy has been reduced to? Go on…
