I wouldn't call this particularly realistic (re: the investigation and to some extent the psychology, though that I'm more mixed on--it's satisfyingly complex and at times feels very familiar but at times feels alien), nor would I say that it scratches the same itch a more prototypical mystery does (although it does do a much better job than the previous book). 4.5/5 Writing so good you don't even mind the silly, unbelievable premise. This one did feel a bit too long in the middle, could probably chop out a good 50-100 pages and it would've been perfect. What it did incredibly well is hold you in a state of tension for hours on end, and I blew threw it in only a couple days. Also, satisfying ending if a tad predictable.

I still love Tana French's writing! The characters were deep and the story hooked me. I had a hard time putting it down.
