Better than the first one, but neither had the quick pace that I prefer. Still, well written and somewhat addictive

Really cool premise and started out really strong. Even though I got mad at Cassie the whole time, the character development was really good and I enjoyed the dialogue. The plot had moments of tension which were great, but you really have to overlook that lots of this is so impossible. I wish there were better explanations for certain plot points other than, wow isn't that a coincidence? In general I think this might be a good series to get into.

Ok so I didn't love the language... It did keep me reading, but I just didn't care about the characters like I would in a Louise Penny novel. Good, but not the best thriller I've ever read.
UPDATE: Still thinking about this one... So, here's the other thing that's bugging me. The premise is completely implausible. And, my loose ends were not tied up, which I really appreciate in a suspenseful novel.

I would definitely read this again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys crime thrillers.

It's been a year since I read "In the Woods" so there were some things I had forgotten about Cassie Maddox. You could probably easily get away without reading these in order but I think it helped even though my memory was fuzzy. The main things I remember held true for this second novel. Those being the psychological journey French takes you on, the creepiness, how real the characters feel and the settings... I definitely enter a completely new world when I open one of her novels and am complete

I've been reading/listening to a lot of mysteries thanks to the "What Should I Read Next" podcast, but this is the cream of the crop. I've enjoyed all the Dublin Murder Squad books as I love the personal connections the detectives have with the murders they are investigating, but The Likeness rises above the rest.

This book was great to listen to as the narrator captured the accents well. I would have given this four stars, but it was just a bit too long. Other than that, there was a lot of tension and suspense that held my interest throughout the book.
