Ok so I didn't love the language... It did keep me reading, but I just didn't care about the characters like I would in a Louise Penny novel. Good, but not the best thriller I've ever read.
UPDATE: Still thinking about this one... So, here's the other thing that's bugging me. The premise is completely implausible. And, my loose ends were not tied up, which I really appreciate in a suspenseful novel.

It's been a year since I read "In the Woods" so there were some things I had forgotten about Cassie Maddox. You could probably easily get away without reading these in order but I think it helped even though my memory was fuzzy. The main things I remember held true for this second novel. Those being the psychological journey French takes you on, the creepiness, how real the characters feel and the settings... I definitely enter a completely new world when I open one of her novels and am complete

This book was great to listen to as the narrator captured the accents well. I would have given this four stars, but it was just a bit too long. Other than that, there was a lot of tension and suspense that held my interest throughout the book.

Pretty good, longer than it needed to be, and not as good as her debut "In the Wood". Kind of reminded me of The Secret History, which is not a bad thing.
