I'm a million year behind everyone else, but this book is awesome. I saw another reviewer said they had never before wished that all the characters of a book were real people until this one, and I definitely have to agree.
Also, I recommend that you check out the podcast "Reading Lives" from Bookriot. The interviewer talks to authors about their lives and what they read (hence the title...), and I listened to the one with Andy Weir many months ago and loved it. Check it out for that episode at l ...more

Hard to say whether the audio is better than the print version. The emotional impact is much more powerful when read by a skilled narrator, but the calculations and talk-through of procedures was a bit tedious, and no way to skim as one can with print.

Wow... There was some bad language and lots of math/chemistry/science talk (which I also consider bad language) but this is the most suspenseful book I've read in awhile! I can barely breathe!

Rounding up from 3.5 stars. This is totally not my genre, but I heard so many good reviews, particularly of the audio, that I had to give it a try. I loved how the narrator brought out Mark Watney's smart-aleck comments. There seemed to be little doubt about the outcome of the rescue mission, and there were a few too many formulas and scientific discussions for me, but I got caught up in the day-to-day life of survival on Mars.
