This book was good. It was suspenseful, mysterious, and engaging. I snuck breaks at work to read a chapter or two, I stayed up later than I should've, telling myself "just one more chapter." It really had me on the edge of my toes. The best part about this book was that a lot of it was inner monologue, but it still somehow kept you interested.
But it was just good. It wasn't thought-provoking or endearing, two things which make a book really stick with me. It wasn't great.

This is one of the rare times that I can't put a book down. Gone Girl thrills, even though having seen the movie, I knew how it ended. It was fast-paced, but in an excruciating manner. You wanted to read but you didn't because you knew that she would turn the screws each page. I loved it.
Ultimately, this book is a success because both characters are despicable. I've read so much pulp recently where the lines are drawn between good and bad distinctly. Here, there is no line, just bad. That's so ...more

I thought this book was GREAT, and it was going to give it 4 or 5 stars until ... it ended. It was an intricate, complicated, and really interesting plot the whole way through, but then the end seemed a little too much of a quick-and-tidy deus ex machina ending. In the afterword, the author mentioned that she had been stuck at about 82.6% finished for a long time, and then got a push from some thank-ee to finish it. That makes sense - she had no idea how to finish it, and eventually resorted to

I really like Gone Girl but that being said I had a few huge problems with it.
The first 300 pages are great, but last 100 pages felt rush. Especially the ending. I wish she could had a different ending. Because I just think what's the point then.
The antagonist is a huge box of cliches and cliches.
Strangely enough I felt the book had a misogynistic tone but a lot but enough when I was like "Really.. really though"

Disappointed with the "twist" and the ending. I prefer Flynn's earlier novels; their plots are much tighter than the plot of Gone Girl.
