I really enjoyed this Poirot. I would never have guessed who the murder ended up being. Vi watches the BBC show with me and she always seems to know before hand. It is like having my own personal Poirot! Nevermind, I very much enjoy the surprise!
I scrolled through the first couple of reviews and thought it was a shame that no one mentioned the amazing mahjong game in the middle of the book.
This is excellent, as expected of Christie, but I wasn’t quite sure why it’s so lauded as one of her best… until I got to the final act. When I saw the little clues she’d given that I’d blithely passed over, I was lost in awe. Well done, indeed, Dame Agatha!
Oh, this is a great one! Right up until the very end, I thought I knew what would happen, and I was totally wrong! Couple it with quirky characters and a quaint British town and it was the perfect mystery.
Although nothing can really top a first read of this novel it was so much fun reading this while already knowing the ending.
