I thought this book was great in the beginning, which tells us how the Western Hemisphere collapsed in a vampire like virus. Then it fasts forwards 100 years and turns into a post apocalyptic soap opera. It stays like this until the final third of the book when the main characters actually start to do things.

I'm not sure how this wound up on my to-read list as I don't usually read apocalypse books. This was really enjoyable though. With one caveat- I listened to the audiobook, which was great, but way too long to listen to during the loan time allotted by the library! I wound up listening to a lot of it sped up so I could finish. Would definitely recommend allowing a lot of time to tackle this long book.

Long and epic, it took a little while to get going, and there was some character set up that seemed a bit excessive (I assume that it will pay off in books 2 & 3). But before I knew it I was completely hooked, and I just went along for the ride on all of the twists and turns. I am very attached to some of the characters, and practically smitten with Peter and Amy.
