This was a thrilling murder mystery. Written in the style of true crime fiction and in a way where the characters are believable. The mark of a really good story is when it makes me care or despise it's characters, to evoke a strong emotional reaction from me. Many times in this book I found myself having guttural reactions to characters in this book, both good and bad. Started out very strong, but I began to get really irritated with the main character about half way through. The mystery was good, with aspects that surprised me, although I did have some of the facts sussed out very early on.
I found this book frequently infuriating, but the main character's poor choices were grounded in real emotions and trauma. Similarly, I did figure the mystery out and I have some mixed feelings about the ultimate resolution. At the end of the day, even though this didn't unfold precisely how I wanted it to, I thought it was very well written, and I am definitely interested in reading more of these.
