Several individuals have recommended this book to me over the last several years, and I am so glad to have finally read it. The story grabbed me within the opening pages and refused to let go; I was completely enveloped by the atmosphere and appreciated the cast of wonderfully complex and fascinating characters. I bought this at the Newark airport on Saturday morning, and could not put it down until I had finished it at 1:30 Sunday morning. Well done, and I will be looking for French's next book with anticipation.

I still don't quite know what to make of this book. On the one hand, it was absolutely gripping, and I liked the realism of the main mystery. I think I appreciated French's not just tying things up in a neat bow. On the other hand, the main character was kind of a douchebag, which made it hard to really like him, and after a while I wanted to move on to a book with more pleasant protagonists.
