More evidence I dislike gothic works. I also do not like "monster" books, but if it is labeled "Classic" I have to at least give it a try. ...more

Easy to forget, sometimes, that the classics are classics for a reason. There were great chunks of Dracula that I devoured in single sittings, despite my malaise of spirit, and a slew of diary entries near the end, on that desperate sprint from Galatz, that had me sitting hunched over the pages and clutching at the paperback I held.

(I would love to see a faithful adaptation of this as a movie: dates and all.)
