This was a pretty disappointing read to be honest.
I really enjoyed the first section with Jonathan Harker in Transylvania. I thought it was suspenseful and I enjoyed the way Dracula's nature was slowly revealed. The atmosphere of this whole section was very creepy and had a lot of classic horror tropes.
But then the book moves to England... Dun Dun Dun.... And it got so boring. The middle of the book was super slow and really ruined the book for me. Verbose speeches, tedious plot and an annoying ...more

I can't believe how long I've held off reading this book. It really is a classic. There's plenty of creepy moments in this book and lots of descriptions that have started the iconic lore of vampires that modern people are familiar with. Some parts drag out, especially when Van Helsing goes into these dense rants that seem to deviant from any exposition or development of the plot. Overall I enjoy about eighty percent of this book and appreciate it as a horror classic.
