What Members Thought

Dracula is an epistolary novel about the vampire Dracula and the band of men (+1 woman) who uncover and fight against him. It's an epistolary novel, with the narrative driven by the personal accounts (in the form of journals, letters, and phonograph records) of the different characters. Dracula is part mystery, part horror novel.

I can't believe how long I've held off reading this book. It really is a classic. There's plenty of creepy moments in this book and lots of descriptions that have started the iconic lore of vampires that modern people are familiar with. Some parts drag out, especially when Van Helsing goes into these dense rants that seem to deviant from any exposition or development of the plot. Overall I enjoy about eighty percent of this book and appreciate it as a horror classic.
