It holds up! It's quite charming. I keep being surprised at how many of the lines are exactly as I remember them from various retellings and plays and even the Muppet version. But there are many more scenes with the spirits in the book that I'd forgotten about. I suppose parts have been cut for good reason; I got bored and sometimes confused by long and rambling scenes. But it's a delightful ending and fun to see how little Christmas has changed since 1843. This is my second reading and I'm sure ...more

My first Dickens! So much shorter than expected. Lovely story, what can I say? Knowing the basics through cultural osmosis, it was a perfect read for the Christmas time. I really want to have dinner with the Cratchits and compliment the pudding!
