Reread in the original 1818 text for class, 2018. Definitely one of my favorite classics; great themes and messages and atmosphere. Not sure how to do multiple separate editions on Goodreads again oh well.

Frankenstein has a nostalgic vibe for me. I rocked this novel in high school and again in college, so it gives me good feelings on top of the spooky creepiness that I love in gothic classics. This time around, I listened to the audiobook read by Dan Stevens. He's a gem with an incredible voice.
Normally, I would have given this a 5-star rating, but for whatever reason, there was only so much groveling and depression I could take. This is still one of my favorite eerie books for the Fall season, ...more

Great book! I enjoyed going in depth with it and thinking about how Shelley critiqued both the Enlightenment and Romanticism. It's a classic ghost story. It was very smooth, and I like how Frankenstein tells his story to Walton before his story was over. One more thing: I liked the power reversal for Frankenstein and the monster, but in the end, they seemed like equals.
