I've investigated more than a few "best sci-fi" book lists and probably half of them had Dune as either number 1 or in the top three. It's also pretty high in the release order of the sci-fi masterworks which also bestowed it with a lot of credibility for me.

Listened to the full cast recording. I enjoyed some of the narrators but got lost several times with the swapping especially towards the end. In general enjoyed the world building of the first half but lost interest after the time jump. Characters were eh, the cadence of the native language was a bit annoying to listen to at times. Liked the ending, but will probably not listen/read anything else from this series. I understand why it's a pillar of the genre but just not interested in delving int
