Don't pick up this book if you:

-hate long books
-are looking for action only
-are looking for a space book

Do pick up this book if you are interested in books with:

-power plays
-political intrigue
-murder plots
-super-human abilities
-feuds between great houses

I won't lie, it took me quite a while to get through the first 100-150 pages, but the rest had me hooked. I caught myself thinking "it reminds me of x" many times throughout this book, but of course, that should be the other way around since this ...more

Wow. Have I ever been this wrong about something? Could I be this off on something that is widely loved?

I despised this book, in a way that surprised me. I came in with tremendously high hopes for the book, and left scratching my head. The dialogue bogs down quite quickly and you're expected to want to follow them on to the conclusion. Further, the dialogue isn't all that compelling. Paul is rising in fame and importance.
