THE METAMORPHOSIS is one of those special books that you read and it doesn't matter if you like it or not. You just appreciate it for reflecting a truth of human nature. An ugly truth. It's not going to make you feel nice.
I love how blatant the story is. Gregor wakes up a bug, and we read about how his family adapts to his condition- how they show some concern at first, but then they adapt and move on. It's scary as hell, but people do that sometimes. ...more
