It is appropriate that Hannah Tinti grew up in Salem, Massachusetts, because this novel is a feat of sorcery which cast its spell on me with its compelling emotional clamour, hypnotizing me, binding me to its terribly flawed characters in ways and for reasons I am still trying to parse, and after having finished it in twenty-four hours during which I resented to the point of anger any interruption to my reading, it continues to haunt me.

Had to take a day and process this book because I wasn't really sure how much I liked it yet. But after some thought I realize I really liked it!

It's kind of a crime fiction/coming of age story about a teenage girl's father, Noah Hawley, and the story of the 12 bullet scars that cover his body.

It's a very smart novel. It had a lot of depth character and plot wise while still being a really interesting story.

Unfortunately reminds me of My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tellent which is a terrible and disturbing story of another father and daughter alone together, hiding, and also lots of guns.
