I really dislike fiction based around infidelity, sex, and guilt. It's an overdone topic that never fails to make me feel uncomfortable and downhearted.
But this is different. Yes, it still makes me uncomfortable and sad, but like all Bohjalian's books I've read so far, he touches on important topics that transcend the basic layers of plot.
