I wanted to love this book...I'm a writer, a bibliophile, a longtime and frequent visitor to Paris...how could I not love it?! But sadly, I didn't. Perhaps it was the translation (I'm willing to make some allowances for that), but it was overwrought, melodramatic, and quite frankly, I felt like slapping Jean for his utter self-absorption. I did like the recipes at the end of the book along with the book "prescriptions." Oh well...dommage! ...more

An emotional whirlwind of a novel! A book about the healing power of books, the love of books, and grief. There is so much going on, not in the actual plot of the book, but in the deeper meaning of it. It's hard to describe and review The Little Paris Bookshop because I honestly think it will mean different things to different people. ...more
