So okay, I cheated.
I have the Dune: The Gateway Collection instead of a singular volume of Dune. The Gateway collection is basically the six books Frank Herbert himself wrote, and is a (kindle) block of good 2000 some, close to 3000 pages.
In itself that's nothing. I've managed the G.R.R. Martin Ice and Fire saga (well, at least four books of them) in a month, 3000 pages shouldn't be too much.

Amazing. Wheels within wheels. Even though there are a lot of political machinations going on, he manages to keep the story very close to the characters. The world is so alive, so real. The only thing a bit odd about this book is the way some of the sentences and words are written... not in the traditional writing style. Still amazing.
