A Gentleman in Moscow required a lot of my patience.
A sometimes charming, classy book. I enjoyed Count Rostov and his comrades. I wanted to love it. I tried, but I did not.
It read so slowly. I was roughly half way through it before I felt fully interested.
On the one hand, the slow development and subtlety was part of the beauty. The story and history unveil gradually, and this was a big part of its essence. The language, details, and interactions are rich and lovely. I savored bits and pieces. ...more
