Shelves: meh, project-overrated

This is really just one big pile of meh. I can understand why people love it so much, but honestly? To me, it just wasn't that great. I think the first half was worse - incredibly dull - and the second half picked up slightly, but not enough to make me raise my rating.

Feyre, the main character, annoyed me a lot. She's a lot like ToG's Celaena: arrogant, proud, stuck-up, and snarky. But where Celaena improved over the course of the book and especially in CoM, Feyre doesn't improve at all. I found ...more

Sooooo, I always said I will never read this series, then the unthinkable happened- my best friends gave it to me as a birthday gift. I will try to forget all the spoilers that convinced me to never start this book, uuuups.

March 2024: 5th read. 5 stars. Listened to dramatised audiobook.

May 2022: 4th read. 5 stars. The ending just gets more heartbreaking with each time I read it.

Jan 2021: 3rd read. I swear this book get better each time. I just always want more Rhysand content in my life.

Plot: I really enjoyed the story. It is a beauty and the beast retelling. Which I could see how in some cases but other times not.

Characters: Our main character I liked but grew to not like her very much. She did so many stupid things and I was like -oh-.Tamlin, omg... I REALLY liked him. He was really something. Our side characters were all interesting. Our antagonist I hated which is to be expected but actually felt bad for her.
