Third Read: 11th - 12th February 2024, 4.25/5 stars
Apparently I'm just going to increase my rating every time I re-read this. First read in 7 years and I still love it. I'd forgotten about the plot Under the Mountain so it was fun to read that again. Also enjoyed picking up the foreshadowing for future books.

  This review is coming a couple of days late because I’ve just had my COVID vaccine and I had to recover, anyway, I’ve just finished “A Court Of Thorns And Roses” or “ACOTAR” as it’s commonly referred to, by Sarah J Maas. It was a reread but I’m VERY glad that I did reread it. I’m going to try and reread all the books throughout this year to get ready for the now newly released “A Court Of Silver Flames,” which I’ll hopefully read at the beginning of next year (I already own it!) The pacing felt a little off to me. Very little happened in the beginning of the book - maybe bc it was all set up?? The ending was where things got interesting. I also don’t LOVE insta love in fantasy, but it’s not that big of a deal. Im interested to continue on. Rhys is by far the most intriguing character so far and I hope he’s in the next one a lot more. 
          
        
      
   
  
              
            
was not the best idea to read this straight after the depth & detail of robin hobb - but it was entertaining enough. this was also my third encounter with a human + fairy/fae story this year though so maybe that helps to explain why it didn't feel especially interesting.

I loved this book.
I liked the story and loved Tamlin and Lucien. I thought they were great.

I literally finished this seconds ago. It was so amazing. I will say that I did expect it to be steamier than it was, but that's really only one of many aspects of this story. 
It took a bit for the story to really get going, when it did, it didn't let go. And that last quarter was fantastic!
I envy the readers who still get to experience ACOTAR for the first time. ...more

I absolutely love this book. I love it. It may be my favorite book of 2015 so far.

To begin, I think this a clever, well done retelling with beautiful scenery and interesting Faerie lore. While I would recommend Maas' Throne of Glass series over this, this book was still an entertaining read with decent characters and a good plot
