Second reading before I continue with the rest of the series. I'm changing my rating from 3 to 4 stars.
My favorite character is Dumbledore. I just love the way he speaks (what happened with Quirell down in the dungeons is top secret so naturally the whole school knows). Rowling's writing style is definitely amazing.
The end of the book was fantastic and promising of more adventures to come. Muggles don't know we can't use magic Harry says. I hope Dudley will be petrified from Harry's wand.

To be totally honest, I've never read Harry Potter before. I listened to it on an audio cassette player when I was younger, but I never actually read the books.
I found to my surprise that I really enjoyed it. There were obviously things that I remembered listening to and also watching.
One thing that I don't remember, was obviously Peeves the poltergeist. As far as my memory serves me, I don't think he ever appeared in the movies, however he, and the Baron, did appear in the PC games.

Reread in December 2014 for Harry Xmas to You! :)
RE-READ -January 2022:
Ughhhhh you guyyys! This series. I just cannot get enough of this series. Rereading this first book made me physically laugh out loud multiple times and I even got misty-eyed when Dumbledore was awarding the final House points to Gryffindor at the end!
Now I patiently wait to pick up Chamber of Secrets in February…
