What Members Thought

While I loved Aristotle and Dante, I recently discovered that Benjamin Alire Saenz is heavily Transphobic and that hurts my heart. Continuously misgendering another book blogger and also accusing them of not reading his book correctly.

Aristotle is quiet and pretty broody when he meets Dante who is inquisitive and confident. They awkwardly build a friendship through Dante teaching Ari to swim at the local poo over the summer and their discussions on the meaning of life and discovering who they are.

They had so much contribution to the story and Ari and Dante’s friendship. I loved them a lot. Ari’s Dad story was by far the most hear ...more

5/5 stars! This was amazing. I can't even begin to describe how great this was. I'm so glad that this mainly focused on their friendship instead of a love interest. The audiobook was narrated by Lin-Manuel Miranda and he was phenomenal. Also, there's a couple of lines that say something along the lines of 'I don't want to waste my time reading about Alexander Hamilton' and I had just had to laugh at the irony.

Such a beautiful story about self-discovery, family, and love with relatable characters and a satisfactory ending.
