Twelve-year-old Sarah Nelson worries she will inherit tendancies to be crazy like her mother, who tried to drown Sarah when Sarah was two and did succeed in drowning Sarah's twin brother. There were two sensational trials and Sarah's mother was institutionalized in a mental facility in Texas. I loved this book about Sarah who has a pretty dysfunctional family. Sarah loves words and is trying to figure out how to survive middle school so she writes to Atticus Finch to help her work her way through. A great coming of age story with a really wild plot twist.

Moving book about a young girl dealing with loss. Would recommend for 11 and up, or very mature 10 year old due to morbid subject matter.
