The Last Olympian is a satisfying conclusion to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. All of the characters from previous books return-- the gods, the demigods, the monsters, and the mortals. In addition, the Titans, the oldest gods, return to aid their brother Kronos in his plans to destroy the Olympians and regain their former seats of power.

While the battle sequences, gadgets, and hip references to ancient myths make this book (and series) a standout, it is Riordan's characters who attr

Great ending to a fantastic series of YA books. I truly loved the cleverness of these books...I was so intrigued with mythology as a middle schooler and these books brought back lots of memories. The last book is a bit pat, as many last books are, but I still enjoyed the ride and liked the author's obvious love of his subjects. ...more

I have loved the Percy Jackson series, it reminds me of Harry Potter a little, just a fun magical read. Again, Henry and I have been competeing to see who could finish it first. It's been fun to talk about all these interesting magical tales. Keeping Henry in good books is challenging, any recomendations would be appreciated. ...more

Enjoyed this one just as much as the others in the series - so fun on audio! Sounds like Riordan left the door open for another book - rumor has it he will begin a new series with a fresh batch of demi-gods...Looking forward to The Lightning Thief movie next year!

It seemed like he tried to pack too much in because he just wanted to finish this series. It could also be because I have been so distracted / busy lately that I couldn't read it in one stretch, so I kept getting a little lost and confused with all the monsters. But, overall, LOVE the series and will have all future 6th grade classes read it. it is a great companion to Ancient Greece--a ...more

I enjoyed the final(?) book in this series. I was glad to see loose ends tied up. The book was very exciting and often funny even in the midst of difficult situations.
